DRAUGHTSMAN CIVIL is a course of two years duration , During 2 years duration a candidate is trained on subjects viz professional skill, professional knowledge, workshop science and calculation and employability skills. in  addition to this a candidate is entrusted to make or do project work and extra curricular activities to build up confidence. The practical skills are imparted in simple to complex manner and same time theory part is taught in the same fashion to apply congnitive knowledge while performing task.

Nature and scope of Draughtsman civil:

This course is meant for the candidates who aspire to become Civil Draughtsman whose job roles include planning and drawing sketches of civil works  from given data, preparing working drawings of all types of civil works  from line sketches in CAD, Planning, drawing, estimating and costing of civil works.

When it comes to scope of draughtsman civil trade it has got huge scope in private as well as in government sector. In government sector every engineering department has need of draughtsman civil for drawing, drafting estimation and costing of civil works. In private sector there is vast scope for draughtsman civil person too. In private sector there are many options of self employment like doing land measurements for clients and making drafts of the same work, preparation of building drawings in brief clients , estimation and valuation for clients.

The work may involve:

1. Drawing of civil works.
2. Estimation and costing of civil works
3. Land measurements
4. Surveying like chain, compass, plane tabling, levelling, contouring
5. knowledge and application of computer aided drafting

Career prospects:

A number of carrier opportunities now a days is in market for draughtsman civil . When it comes to government sector if we talk about our own  UT jammu and Kashmir the local recruitment board jkssb almost every year comes with advertisements for filling posts in different departments and in these notifications there are huge number of posts for draughtsman civil. so as draughtsman civil one can make his career in government sector at state level as well as at national level.Every engineering department has a draughtsman civil section where draughtsman civil works. In private sector there are many private companies which are dealing with civil works ,these companies also need draughtsman civil. self employment is one of the key factor in draughtsman civil field.
